QuickStats 1.1

December 12th, 2006

Your favorite statistics plugin is back. This minor revision implements an RSS tracker function that lets you tracker your visitors in near-realtime using an rss reader software. Also the annoying undeletable filtered IP bug is fixed. Thanks go to Mitch Powell for pointing it out.

Quick Stats is a configurable and embarassingly easy to install statistics plugin for wordpress that shows live statistics about referrer data, content hit count and browser versions back to a configurable number of hits. Individual hits are also shown with ip address and hostname.

Quick Stats is not meant to be a full featured log analyzer. It is intended to show realtime statistics on a recent time window. It does all the analysis on demand and shows them on an easily accesible single page.

Installation

1. Upload `quickstats.php` and `quickstats` directory to your plugins folder, usually `wp-content/plugins/`2. Activate the plugin on the plugin screen

Upgrade

Just overwrite the old file and be sure to visit options page once.

I just downloaded your archive and unzipped it, and it is exactly what I wanted - a small and simple statistic plugin which does not let my database grow too large.

But there are two problems, a minor one and a major one.

The minor one does not matter for me. The general statistics needs a rather up-to-date MySQL-server because of the subselect. The server in my test installation is up-to-date, but my web hosters server isn’t. They are a little conservative for reasons of security…

The major problem is the archive. There are some files missing. I wanted to use the RSS-stats, and it can’t work. At first, I wondered where these RSS-icon shound become visible; nice, that you include a screenshot. In my option panel, I couldn’t see this icon. So I looked in the source and found, that there was some files in a subdirectory wp-content/plugins/quickstats was referred. This directory is missing in your ZIP-archive, so the RSS-feature can not work.

I tried to download the version 1.0 and hoped, that I can found the missing files there, but they’re not included in the older archive too.

This sometimes happens to me when I zip something on the command line and forget to give these ‘-r’ option to the zip command… ;-)

JQ: The major bug has been fixed. I’ll fix the minor annoyence when I have the time ;) Thank you for you nice comments

      I received this error:

“Warning: mysql_fetch_row(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in quickstats/quickstats.php on line 83″

      Any idea what that means?

I think you might have figured it out by now but I think it means there are no recorded hits to your page. Please inform me if this is not the case. –JimQode

Hi, what is the Magic Number?

    5. Jim Qode says

      @Luca:

From the README file supplied in the zip file:

Magic Number is a basic security measure to assure only authorized people
subscribe to the tracker RSS feed. Magic Number is passed in the URL of the
tracker feed one must basically know this number to read the feed.

You can generate a new random Magic Number using the generate button in
      options window.

Warning: mysql_fetch_row(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in C:\Domains\doudsystems.com\wwwroot\blog\wp-content\plugins\quickstats\quickstats.php on line 83

I’ve been getting this error at the top of the report since I installed the plug-in.

      Any thoughts?

I’m using wordpress 2.2. I install the plug in and activated it — now where do I go to see the stats? Should they be on the side bar?
      Thanks
